The Pacavalj Perspective

Location : 大鳥村入口   22.38216, 120.91147

Introduction
The entrance images of villages along the South-Link Line form people’s first impression of these tribes. However, "cultural constructions" such as these are usually contracted projects. As a result, there is a homogeneous, artificial landscape along the road, and irrelevant imagination can be found misplaced in the local communities. The native tribal culture is crowded out while a homogenized view created by the external world remains. After the inevitable modernization, how do native Taiwanese people re-establish their own cultural subjectivity in the irreversible historical current? How do the youths of the tribes, who play a pivotal role on cultural heritage, pass down their legacy while facing difficulties in inheriting it from the elders? The youths of the Zazakaw (Big Bird) tribe write and express themselves through the "Entrance Image Reconstruction Project." Through the process of this imprinting action, they explore and slowly spread local histories, creating a way of inheriting their tribal culture through their field research.

This artwork will be exhibited after July.
