Metaverse-Doomsday Objects Project for the Hidden South
3. 台東美術館 22.76435, 121.14995
Today's virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality have created a world view of “Metaverse.” Technological development has been transformed from virtual gaming to the creation of a new reality. This project, "Metaverse: Workshop of the Hidden South Doomsday Objects," can be considered as a virtual ark. Through co-construction with local residents, it considers and investigates what people, things and objects are worthy of being brought to the ark for preservation in today’s human society from the perspective of archeology, cultural assets conservation, or a personal perspective. It also considers what forms they may be transformed into simulations or simulacra in the "Metaverse" to enable re-extraction and representation of the human culture in post-apocalyptic reconstruction. Or it is considered as the possibility of existing in the electronic form in the post-apocalyptic Metaverse, like ghosts wandering in the black holes of the universe and the sci-fi imagination before the Doomsday.
